When taking the picture of the check, ensure that:

  • There is a strong cellular signal or Wi-Fi connection
  • All apps that use your device camera are closed
  • There is sufficient lighting and contrast between check and background surface
  • Check is on a dark surface
  • Check image is free of shadows
  • If wrinkled, flatten the check before taking the picture
  • Check image is clear and all four corners are inside the guide markers
  • You will be able to review the picture and retake if necessary

Please Note:

  • The deposit limit is $5,000 per business day (Monday thru Friday by 3pm, excluding Federal Reserve Holidays).
  • Checks deposited before 3:00pm Monday-Friday (except holidays), if accepted, may be available after 6:00pm on that business day.
  • Checks deposited after 3:00pm on Monday-Friday (except holidays) will be processed with deposits submitted on the next business day.
  • If a longer hold is required, we will contact you.

What is Remote Check Deposit?

Remote Check Deposit is a secure online service that allows you to deposit checks into eligible Fort Lee Federal Credit Union accounts remotely. A check can be photographed with the camera on a smartphone device. Then the image of the check and the information is delivered electronically to Fort Lee Federal Credit Union. This service is available 24/7 and helps eliminate going to a branch or an ATM to make a deposit.

 

Who is eligible for Remote Check Deposit?

Fort Lee Federal Credit Union members in good standing with checking accounts are eligible for Remote Check Deposit. Estate, Trust, Organizational and Custodial accounts are not eligible for this service at this time.

 

What devices are supported by Remote Check Deposit?

iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S, and 5 models

Android 2.2 (Froyo) or newer, 2.0+ Megapixel camera

 

How do I enroll in Remote Check Deposit?

To use Remote Check Deposit you must be enrolled in our Virtual Branch and download and enroll in our Mobile app.

 

How does Remote Check Deposit work?

Remote Check Deposit allows you to securely deposit checks from home, work, or other places you have access to a compatible Android cell phone or an iPhone with a camera and internet access. Prior to making a deposit using this service please ensure:

  • Strong cellular signal or Wi‐Fi connection
  • All apps that use your device camera are closed
  • Sufficient lighting and contrast between check and background surface
  • Write “For e-­Deposit Only at Fort Lee FCU” and sign the back of the check before taking the picture
  • The check is on a dark surface before taking picture
  • Check image is free of shadows
  • Flatten the check, if wrinkled, before taking the picture
  • Check image is clear and all four corners are inside the guide markers
  • You will be able to review the picture and retake it if necessary

 

Are there fees associate with Remote Check Deposit?

At this time, Fort Lee Federal Credit Union does not charge fees for the use of this service.

 

Is my financial information safe with Remote Check Deposit?

YES! Remote Check Deposit is offered through Mobile Banking, which requires you to provide a unique logon ID and password to login.

 

When will my deposit be available in my account?

Funds deposited before 3pm Monday ‐ Friday (except Federal Reserve holidays), if accepted may be available after 6pm on that business day. If a longer hold is required we will contact you. Checks submitted on a Federal Reserve Holiday will be processed with following business day deposits.

 

Are there deposit or transaction limits?

Yes. You can deposit up to $5,000 per business day (Monday thru Friday by 3pm, excluding Federal Reserve Holidays) in a single check or multiple checks; however, aggregate amount cannot exceed the daily limit. Example: if you deposit $3,000 on Saturday, you can deposit up to additional $2,000 before 3pm on Monday.

 

What type of checks can be deposited via Remote Check Deposit?

You may deposit any of the following types of checks drawn on or payable through a United States Bank or Credit Union, made payable to you:

  • Personal checks
  • Cashier’s checks
  • Payroll checks
  • Government checks

 

What type of checks cannot be deposited via Remote Check Deposit?

You agree that you will not use Remote Check Deposit to scan and deposit any ineligible items including but not limited to the following:

  • Checks payable to any person or entity other than you
  • Post-‐dated or stale-­dated checks
  • Starter or counter checks
  • Checks that have been altered, incomplete, or you know or suspect to be fraudulent.
  • Checks drawn off your Fort Lee Federal Credit Union account
  • Checks not payable in United States currency
  • Checks drawn on financial institutions located outside the United States
  • Consumer loans, credit card, and mortgage payments
  • IRA deposits
  • Money orders, travelers checks, Amex Gift Cheques, Savings bonds
  • Checks that require authorization
  • State‐issued registered warrants
  • Checks previously converted to a substitute check
  • Checks that have been previously negotiated
  • Checks from another financial institution to a closed account

 

How long should I retain my original check?

Be sure to retain each check for minimum five business days after your funds have been posted to your account. Upon receipt of these funds, please mark the items prominently as "VOID" and to securely dispose of the item(s) in a way that prevents representing for payment. If the original check is no longer available, please contact the issuer of the check to obtain a new copy that can be resubmitted for deposit.

 

Why must I endorse the check with the words “For e-­Deposit Only at Fort Lee FCU”?

This specific endorsement ensures that any check deposited via Remote Check Deposit will not be deposited again at Fort Lee FCU or another financial institution. It is one of security measures we have put in place to protect our member accounts from theft and fraud. Checks that are not endorsed as specified will be rejected.
